Carpenters Who Care

Carpenters Who Care is a program where carpenters help carpenters who are suffering from addiction. The group was started in 2017 by members of the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters who came together to talk about the number of carpenters who have been dying due to the disease of addiction.

Upcoming SIB Event

Greetings and thank you for your continued support with the Sisters in the Brotherhood. Layla Bibi and I have accepted the position to Co-Chair the Committee moving forward, following Susan Schultz's retirement. We held our first meeting of the year in late January, virtually. We are now planning another virtual event on April 8th at 6pm for our second quarterly meeting of 2021. With that being said, we could use your help in reaching out to Sisters in your local to spread the word. We will have a special guest speaker that we intend to support in the Virginia Governor's race, Jennifer Caroll Foy. We believe Jennifer is just the kind of candidate the Sisters can get behind and support. We intend to host her at our meeting that evening and sponsor a phone banking effort immediately following, council wide. There will be a text sign up that will go out soon, so be on the lookout. We encourage all to sign up early so that we can get a good head count. I have attached a link below so that you can read up on this trailblazing candidate. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Cyndie Williams

The eligibility requirements are minimal so we encourage all families to consider applying. See the link below to download the application form which includes the rules and eligibility requirements, awarding criteria, and other important information.

The CARPENTER Magazine

The CARPENTER magazine has gone all-digital!

The Carpenter, now known as Carpenter magazine, began in 1881 as a monthly publication produced by the UBC to inform all dues-paying members of newsworthy events within the union. While the frequency of the publication has slowly decreased over the years, UBC’s website continues to grow and has become an additional go-to source for member stories, news, and union information.

As always, the magazine includes coverage of UBC councils, programs, and members, but now we’ve added interactive links to more photos and video content! With an all-digital magazine, we use our resources well by saving on printing and postage costs. The UBC continues to publish the Carpenter once a year, making it one of the oldest continuously published magazines in North America.

To read the latest issue of the Carpenter, please follow this link to the UBC’s website - https://www.carpenters.org/resource-hub/carpenter-magazine/

The Carpenter magazine is automatically sent to all active members that have opted in to receive it. To ensure you continue to receive notice of future editions of the Carpenter, please be sure to provide us with a valid email address.
